The Learning Space is the educational arm of the NGO Al Tarab, providing a meeting space to raise awareness of the values of cultural diversity, cooperation and solidarity among schoolchildren through film screenings and educational sessions.
By means of ongoing work with young people in Andalusia, the Learning Space aims to foster a more accurate, more realistic understanding of African societies, using the most universal language of all: cinema.
It is essential that young people learn about the multiple realities of the African continent and its huge range of cultural landscapes. Through the screening of films and guided debates, the Learning Space helps schoolchildren debunking myths and breaking harmful stereotypes about Africa.
This year, the Learning Space expands its borders by developing an online viewing platform that allows access to selected film titles from both Spain and Morocco. This makes it easier for schoolchildren to participate in this space from their own classrooms or even from their homes. Thanks to the use of digital technology, the African Film Festival-FCAT is able to transcend borders which, at the moment, are uncrossable due to the pandemic.
