The Tarifa-Tangier African Film Festival-FCAT is holding its 17th edition between 4 and 13 December 2020 with a marked socio-educational character on the Moroccan side. In accordance with the recommendations and restrictions established by the country's authorities in relation to COVID-19, FCAT is concentrating its programming on the Learning Space, the educational branch of the Festival.
This year, the Festival aims to strengthen its collaboration with educational institutions in the north of Morocco by bringing African cinema to a number of Spanish-speaking schools and educational centres. This is a further step in the consolidation of the Festival in Morocco, where it has been operating mainly in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

FCAT is a cross-border event that builds a bridge between two neighbouring and yet distant countries, Spain and Morocco. This bridge, built on cinema as a common denominator, has been consolidating year after year. A good example of this is the implementation, during the past edition, of extensions of the Festival in two cities in the north of Morocco, Tetouan and Chefchaouen, in collaboration with several local entities and Spanish NGOs. This reflects FCAT’s commitment to bring African films to all corners and to facilitate access to the cinematographies of the African continent, in order to continue forging respect for diversity, tolerance and cultural dialogue between the two continents.
